Rising UK rap sensation BEKA BARZ has just dropped her latest track, Wannabe, and as a result, it’s already making waves. By transforming personal heartbreak into an empowering anthem, the song not only flips the iconic Spice Girls line but also turns it into a sassy declaration: “If you wanna be my lover, then don’t get with my friends.”
Moreover, crafted in her home studio under her alias B3K, BEKA BARZ co-produced the track with Zimbabwean beatmaker EliQr64. Even though they worked remotely and had to overcome a language barrier, the duo ultimately created an infectious beat. Consequently, it perfectly complements the song’s playful yet fierce lyrics.

Directed, edited, and produced by BEKA BARZ herself through her company Four Reel, the Wannabe music video is a visual feast. Moreover, filmed by her wife, Aimee Buffong, it stars Go Punk and rising rapper Madi G.
Throughout the video, fans can expect laugh-out-loud moments, including an unscripted car scene where BEKA BARZ playfully shoves Go out of her car. Indeed, this moment perfectly captures the energy, humor, and authenticity she brings to her work. Overall, every frame reflects her hands-on approach while blending cinematic storytelling with the bold personality that defines her music.
Wannabe was inspired by a cheating ex. Nevertheless, it transforms pain into empowerment. Furthermore, BEKA BARZ explains that music has always served as her outlet for processing life’s challenges. From playful wordplay to sharp lyrical storytelling, the track captures a full spectrum of emotion. In addition, it encourages listeners to reclaim their confidence and voice.
Additionally, the lyrics are unapologetically honest, balancing humour and self-assurance: “Tell me how you love me then go and be untrue.” As a result, it’s a track that both consoles and energizes, a hallmark of BEKA BARZ’s multi-layered artistry.
BEKA BARZ isn’t just a rapper she’s a writer, producer, engineer, director, and editor. Indeed, every step of Wannabe was overseen by her, ensuring that her creative vision remained intact. Additionally, she carefully mixes, masters, and produces her tracks, thereby keeping them authentic and true to her unique style.
Furthermore, her collaboration with EliQr64 demonstrates her ability to build artistic synergy across borders. By using WhatsApp and clear communication, they overcame technical and logistical challenges. Consequently, they produced a polished, dynamic sound that reflects both their strengths.
BEKA BARZ’s personality shines through her work. From the playful lyrics to the comic timing in the video, she shows that vulnerability and humor can coexist. In fact, the Wannabe video exemplifies this philosophy, blending personal storytelling with lighthearted visual gags that highlight her fearless creativity.

Wannabe is part of a 24-track mixtape titled Autonomy, reflecting BEKA BARZ’s independent, multi-genre artistry. She’s managing every aspect herself from recording to mastering while continuing to push creative boundaries. Consequently, fans can expect a body of work that explores both vulnerability and empowerment, showcasing her evolution as an artist.
