Kentish Town Youth Action EPQ Project | Win £1000

This project is jointly developed by the Kentish Town Connects Youth Action partnership (Apex Project, Brandon Centre, Better, Creative Health Camden and LB Camden).

Building on our Keep it Kentish pilot, we are looking to recruit five young people (aged 16–25) currently not in education, training, or employment to lead real change in their neighbourhood while accessing payment, mentorship and education.

The Project at a Glance

Who it’s for:

Five young people aged 16–25 in east Camden (Gospel Oak, Haverstock, Kentish Town North, Kentish Town South, and Camden Square) who are currently NEET, prioritising those furthest from traditional education or employment.

Accredited Learning (October–December): Young participants will complete 60 hours over 12 weeks of community research, earning a Level 3 Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) facilitated by UAL.

Paid Participation: Young people will be paid the London Living Wage for their time in learning sessions, receiving £888.00 in total if the whole programme is completed.

1:1 Mentoring: Weekly pastoral and professional support will be provided by dedicated mentors from local partner organisations.

Real-world Project Delivery (January–April): Participants will pitch for a £1,000 project budget to design and pilot real community interventions, activating the new Kentish Town Meanwhile space and sharing their findings with local decision-makers.

The Recruitment Day

The Recruitment Day is your opportunity to learn more about the programme, meet the team, and demonstrate why you’d be a great fit. The day has been designed to be engaging, interactive, and enjoyable, giving you the chance to showcase your creativity, communication, and teamwork skills.

During the day, you’ll take part in a range of fun group activities and assessments that will help us get to know you better. Don’t worry – there are no exams. Instead, we’ll be looking at how you work with others, solve problems, share ideas, and contribute in a team environment.

You’ll also have the opportunity to attend a Q&A session where you can meet the organisations and Community Champions supporting the programme. This is your chance to ask questions, find out more about the opportunities available, and hear how the programme can help you develop new skills, gain a recognised qualification, get paid for your participation, and even compete for funding of up to £1,000 to bring your ideas to life.

By the end of the day, you’ll have a clear understanding of what the programme involves, what support you’ll receive, and the exciting opportunities available if you’re successful.
