Round Of Applause / Absurd Idea by Aesthetic

DJ Maintain, former Itch Radio DJ, joins forces with vocalist Jess Here under the name Aesthetic. The duo have released the music video for Round of Applause, the lead single from their upcoming self-titled album, due for release on 26 June 2026.

The project marks the beginning of a creative partnership that has developed over several years. While the music itself speaks volumes, the story behind the collaboration is equally compelling.

The Story Behind Aesthetic

Maintain first met Jess Here during one of her live performances in Kampala. From the moment he saw her perform, he knew he wanted to work with her. However, the opportunity did not arise immediately.

Several years later, Maintain returned to making music and finally reached out with a beat. As a result, the pair created their first track together, A Story. The collaboration clicked instantly and Jess soon asked,

What else have you got?

Maintain shared a collection of what he considered his strongest soul and R&B productions. Jess, however, had a different vision. She replied,

This isn’t it. Let me come round and see what you’ve got on your laptop.

To Maintain’s surprise, Jess selected hip-hop beats almost exclusively. Meanwhile, the pair continued exchanging ideas after every studio session. Messages went back and forth regularly and, with each new track, the creative chemistry became stronger.

Maintain quickly realised that Jess had a unique ability to elevate every sound they worked on together. Consequently, what began as a simple collaboration evolved into something much bigger. Ultimately, those sessions laid the foundations for Aesthetic.

Round of Applause Leads the Way

Round of Applause provides the perfect introduction to the album. The track combines uplifting production with soulful vocals and an inspiring message. In addition, it celebrates friendship, community and the people who support us through life’s challenges.

The song’s memorable chorus encourages listeners to recognise and appreciate those who stand beside them during difficult times. Therefore, it feels both personal and universal.

The upcoming album brings together writing, production and performance from DJ Maintain & Jess Here for Lost Sounds Productions. In addition, Vini Mercy and Watusi87 contribute additional writing and vocals. Quad A Studios handled the mixing and mastering, while East Africa Records Studios provided additional recording. Otis C Matthew created the artwork and Ruhinda Solomon Kwezi directed the music video.

As the release date approaches, Round of Applause offers an exciting preview of what lies ahead. More importantly, it introduces listeners to a project built on creative chemistry, mutual respect and a shared passion for music.
