Every Saturday night from 10pm–12am, Cosmic Sessions opens a portal into the deeper side of rhythm and groove. Curated by the founder of Itch Radio, the show explores a rich spectrum of sounds spanning Future Jazz, Electronic Jazz, Broken Beat, Bruk and Deep House — music rooted in soul, experimentation and London’s ever-evolving underground.

Discovering Broken Beat

My journey into this world goes back to 1999, when a friend took me to a legendary Broken Beat night called Co‑Op at The Velvet Rooms in London. What I experienced that night changed everything. The energy, the musicianship and the community around the sound was unlike anything I’d heard before.

Later, when Co-Op moved to the iconic Plastic People in Shoreditch, the movement only deepened, becoming a spiritual home for a generation of forward-thinking DJs, producers and dancers.

Musical Roots

Coming from a background as a lifelong Hip Hop listener and music obsessive, I immediately recognised something familiar within the Broken Beat sound. You could hear the DNA of Hip Hop running through it, but also layers of Jazz, Drum & Bass, Rare Groove and 70s Soul woven into the rhythms.

It was complex but soulful — futuristic yet deeply rooted in Black musical traditions.

The IG Culture Connection

What fascinated me even more was discovering that one of the scene’s key architects, IG Culture, came directly out of British Hip Hop as part of Dodge City Productions.

That lineage made perfect sense. The same spirit of innovation and crate-digging culture that shaped Hip Hop was clearly driving this new movement forward.

Creating Space on Itch Radio

As the founder of Itch Radio, I’ve always believed that music like this deserves a dedicated space — somewhere the deeper, more soulful edges of electronic music can breathe.

Cosmic Sessions is that space: a journey through broken rhythms, cosmic jazz textures and deep dancefloor vibrations, connecting past, present and future through sound.
