The Streets have returned with a new single, “Utopia”, released on 19th September 2025 via 45th Generation Roman. During their European summer tour, Mike Skinner and his band wrote and recorded the track, capturing the raw energy and immediacy of life on the road.
For the music video, Skinner filmed across multiple brutalist concrete locations throughout Europe. Over the summer, the team visited dozens of structures, weaving the architecture into the visuals to reflect the song’s themes of imperfection, resilience, and unexpected beauty.
The Streets “Utopia” meditates on imperfection and embracing life as it comes. Skinner encourages listeners to accept chaos and reject the pursuit of flawlessness. He explains:
You can’t make Utopia, that’s the point. It’s about acting in the here and now. There isn’t an ideal endgame. We’re not waiting for perfection. We just have to move and keep moving and find the good in what surrounds us, as brutal(ist) as that may be.
Consequently, the track highlights the beauty in everyday life and invites listeners to embrace unpredictable, messy moments.

Led by Mike Skinner, The Streets first emerged on the UK music scene in the early 2000s. Their 2002 debut album, Original Pirate Material, received critical acclaim for its honest, witty and socially observant lyrics. Over the years, The Streets became known for blending garage, hip-hop and electronic influences, creating a distinct sound that reflected everyday British life. Afterwards, Skinner returned with multimedia projects, combining music with film and visuals, which set the stage for the release of “Utopia.”

“Utopia” sets the stage for a major UK and European tour in 2026. It also follows Skinner’s multimedia project The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light from two years ago. By personally directing, acting, editing, sound-mixing, producing and funding the project, Skinner ensured that the album and its visuals work seamlessly together.
